Egyptian Label Miss PB Releases Coquette Gone Wild Collection
In this collection, the founder continues to narrow the gap between couture and ready-to-wear.
Straddling the line between couture and ready-to-wear, Egyptian brand Miss PB has launched its newest collection, titled ‘Coquette Gone Wild’. Founded by Pacinthe Badran, who is also known for her eponymous couture label, Miss PB reflects her vast experience in intricate craftsmanship while exploring a more playful, accessible side of fashion. With a background rooted in crafting couture, Badran brings the same attention to detail and artistry to Miss PB, creating a space where high fashion meets everyday wear.
The Muse: “I wanted to do something more playful, more artsy, more daring,” Pacinthe Badran, the founder and creative director, tells Scene Styled. “That's why I chose to create this collection with prints this time.” This led to the introduction of exclusive prints and patterns in the collection. Each design is crafted and custom-printed on their fabrics, making these prints one-of-a-kind.
‘Coquette Gone Wild’ unveils the bold, untamed side of the Coquette girl from their previous collection. She’s stepping into vibrant colours, daring prints, and even the organza Badran utilizes is shinier and stiffer than previous collections. “This isn’t just a ‘cute’ brand,” Badran says. “I want to prove you can be both fierce and feminine.”
The Collection Dissected: With quaint pastel hues and softly-draped designs made with luxurious materials like organza, every piece is crafted by hand - from the draping to the stitching - meaning that no two corsets are ever the same. “Each corset is a little piece of couture, bridging the gap between couture and ready-to-wear.” While the materials, prints, and colors evolve, the core aesthetic remains fixed: playful yet chic, daring yet youthful.
The Collection in Three Words: “Daring, fun and unique.”
Where to Wear It: “You can wear it on your birthday party, you can wear it on your best friend's wedding - it’s all about how you style it,” she shares.
How to Style it:
The Designer Suggests: “I personally love pairing a corset with jeans,” Badran shares. Paired with wide-leg satin pants in complementary colors elevate the outfit for something more polished. For a playful, couture-inspired vibe, a skirt - whether short, long or pencil - adds a touch of fun. A sleek pencil skirt with a side slit, featured in the collection, offers a refined and modern option. “I always tell clients, if they’re unsure about how to style their corset, they can reach out to us for tips, or even create custom pieces for whatever the occasion.”
Scene Styled Suggests:
Be Indie | Stardust 2.0 in Black
Amina Muaddi | Lila Slipper 95 in Pink Satin
Dolce&Gabanna | DG bouclé headband
Swarovski | Dulcis Cocktail Ring
The Collection’s Stand-Out Pieces: “What's special about this collection is the introduction of cocktail dresses and party dresses,” Badran shares. “This is something we’ve never done before.” For Badran, these new additions are a natural extension of the brand's ethos - and highly practical for their audience. “Many people want a complete piece, something they don’t have to think about styling,” she explains.
In The Words of Pacinthe Badran… “This collection is for the kind of woman who turns heads without trying. She’s confident, a little daring, and knows how to balance a girly side with a razor-sharp sense of fashion.”
The Verdict:
While staying true to the brand’s identity, Miss PB challenges the idea that coquette is all sweetness and charm. The coquette aesthetic is made up of a romanticized, hyper-feminine style that pulls from historical representations of femininity, particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries. Central to this aesthetic is its use of innocence juxtaposed with subtle sensuality, expressed through delicate, luxurious fabrics, and pieces like corset and voluminous silhouettes, which Badran utilizes in a bolder manner.
