SELECTS: Rebel Cairo's Rana Soliman Plays With Patterns

Rana Soliman, marketing creative director of Cairo-based label Rebel Cairo, chose to lean into contrast for this week’s curation. “I was interested in mixing pieces that feel unexpected together,” she tells SceneStyled. “Strong prints, rich textures, bold colour - and making them feel intentional rather than chaotic.”

The edit unfolds gradually, with certain pieces asserting themselves as each look took shape. Dries Van Noten’s satin jacquard trousers sit alongside Rebel Cairo’s Galila jacket, its khayameya embroidery rooted in Egyptian textile traditions. Etro paisleys share space with the Rizq cardigan, a deep plum knit that anchors the look. “I like mixing worlds,” Soliman says. “It shows that style isn’t about geography; it’s about how you put things together.”

There are no rigid rules when it comes to pattern mixing. “I look for harmony in chaos. Scale matters: if one print is large and loud, I’ll pair it with something tighter or more repetitive. Colour is the bridge; even if the patterns clash, a shared tone can make them feel cohesive.” For this week’s SceneStyled Selects, the woman wearing these looks, Soliman adds, “dresses for herself.”
