The Parisian Chic Edit With Egyptian Model Salma Salmawy
It’s that certain something that makes you say, ‘I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I love it.’
With her Mediterranean looks, soft features, and undeniable ‘je ne sais quoi,’ 22-year-old Egyptian freelance fashion model Salma Salmawy has been steadily making her mark on the city’s modelling scene. Her love for fashion bloomed early, with the glamour of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows planting the seeds of her modelling dream. After high school, she seized the moment, reaching out to photographers to build her portfolio—eventually catching the attention of clients eager to work with her.
Salmawy’s portfolio boasts collaborations with Egyptian brands like Espace Meld, Be Indie, Tunji, Kato, Shop Calma, Hayden, Myne, Daar Dahlia, and Ohanna. She gravitates toward editorial shoots and slow fashion brands that emphasise thoughtful design, with her recent shoot for Espace Meld standing out as a personal favourite. In addition to local brands, Salmawy has worked with German fashion photographer Maya Silva, Egyptian portrait photographer Almer Elebiary, and Lebanese creative Sophia Khalifeh.
When it comes to style, Salmawy loves to play with contrasts—mixing feminine and masculine elements or pairing unexpected pieces to create something fresh. “I’m usually drawn to a mix of model-off-duty meets ‘90s Penélope Cruz, who lives rent-free on my mood boards,” she says cheekily.
Salmawy has curated outfits that channel that elusive French-chic aura, perfectly tailored for various outings in Paris. What could be more ‘je ne sais quoi’ than that?
Late Brunch at Café de Flore
A staple of Parisian café culture, Café de Flore is perfect for a girl’s brunch or some artistic musings over coffee. Located in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the café has been frequented by the likes of Picasso and Hemingway, making it a hub for artists and creatives, and the ideal spot for a late brunch.
For the occasion, Salmawy opted for the perfect ‘not-trying-too-hard’ outfit, mixing casual and chic elements while still embracing her fashion-girl identity. “It feels very me,” Salmawy shares.
“The denim skirt and tank top are laid-back everyday pieces, but the statement boots and red leather bag elevate the look for a Parisian brunch.”
She adds with a grin, “I love the humour in wearing a J’adore tank top in Paris. If there’s one takeaway, it’s that good boots and a statement bag can go a long way.”

Museum Date at Musée d'Orsay
Nothing says romance like a date at a museum, and in France, few places rival the charm of Musée d’Orsay. Located on the Left Bank of the Seine, this museum is a palace of art history, showcasing masterpieces from Monet to Van Gogh. It’s the perfect setting for both fashion and romance.
“People are finally realising capris are actually pretty, thanks to Bella Hadid,” Salmawy laughs. Her museum date look blends timeless chic with modern elements, with an Okhtein bag adding a pop of colour. “This outfit channels the spirit of the ‘60s without feeling costume-y—still very modern, very Parisian.”

Sightseeing at Tour Eiffel & Arc de Triomphe
No trip to Paris is complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Both monuments serve as iconic backdrops for the ultimate vacation outfit photos, the kind you’ll look back on for years to come.
For this sightseeing adventure, Salmawy played with asymmetrical cuts and bold silhouettes. “The cuts and colours give the outfit a youthful, fun vibe,” she explains. “It’s perfect for capturing those timeless Eiffel Tower shots you’ll show your kids one day.”
And no outfit would be complete without the right scent. “Dior’s Hypnotic Poison is my holy grail,” she says. “My mom has worn it for years, and I’ll definitely pass it on to my kids.”

Picnic at the Champ de Mars
Nestled between the Eiffel Tower and the École Militaire, Champ de Mars is the ultimate spot for a laid-back Parisian picnic. With wide lawns, lush greenery, and stunning views, it calls for a contemporary yet casual outfit.
“This look is my ‘ready-for-whatever-the-day-may-bring’ vibe,” Salmawy shares. “The denim-on-denim feels effortless, but I keep it soft with dainty accessories like my Saint Laurent sunglasses and ballet flats. It’s cool without even trying.”

Cruise on the Seine River
A cruise along the Seine is one of the most relaxing and scenic ways to take in Paris. As the boat floats through the heart of the city, it’s the perfect moment for a bit of fun with your outfit.
“I love pairing suit pants with graphic tees, especially when the tee features icons like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell,” Salmawy says with a playful smile. “And of course, I’d throw a red sweater over my shoulders for a pop of colour or to keep warm as the evening breeze sets in.”
