The Maximalist Menswear Edit With Jordanian Stylist Jad Toghuj

From florals to cow prints, this celebrity stylist did not hold back.

Ziyad El-Helbawy

An architect by degree and a style maven by profession, Jordanian celebrity stylist Jad Toghuj is no stranger to turning heads for all the right reasons. What began as dressing up characters in The Sims soon transformed into an artful, real-life sense of style. With his mastery of crops, cuts, colours, and the occasional rip, Toghuj has gone on to work on some of the region’s biggest editorials and fashion events, styling prominent figures like Jordanian actresses Rakeen Saad and Yara Mustafa, Jordanian singer Dana Salah, and Palestinian-Jordanian singer Zeyne, among others.

With an experimental aesthetic, Toghuj is all about extravagance, eschewing any notions of conformity and instead, proudly choosing to stand out. Proving that menswear should not be synonymous with mundanity, Toghuj goes above and beyond with his personal style, encouraging men, particularly Middle Eastern men, to do the same.

“I think people in the region are realising the importance of menswear and the fun, creative ideas that come with it.” Jordanian stylist Jad Toghuj tells SceneStyled. “Today’s younger generation are taking inspiration from different designers and creating looks that express who they are, sharing them with the world via TikTok and Instagram. You can see the passion these young boys have for fashion, and witness them paving the way for others in the region.” Toghuj adds.

For this week’s SceneSelects, we reached out to Toghuj and asked him to curate five maximalist outfits for men. From florals to cow prints, this celebrity stylist did not hold back.

Look One | ‘Florals for Fall’

“The jacket is so fun and summery; I love a patch, I love a motif, and I love when fun, unexpected colours are mixed. I would style this jacket closed to replace a top, and of course, when you have a full garden on your jacket, you need a pigeon bag. We can thank Jonathan Anderson for creating this masterpiece of a bag — it’s campy, it’s fun, and it’s seriously unserious. To complete the look, I went for mini pastel yellow faux leather shorts by one of my favourite Jordanian designers, Tania George, boots from Bottega Veneta, and a lot of fun rings by La Manso.”

Outsiders Division | Vergel Jacket

Tania George | Faux Leather Shorts

JW Anderson | Pigeon Clutch Bag

Bottega Veneta | Haddock Lace-Up Ankle Boot

Le Manso | Ring Stack

Look Two | ‘Is He a Detective? Nope, Just Wearing a Trench Coat’

“A funny trench coat is such a beautiful take on such a classic piece, warping what we’re used to seeing as timeless and untouchable. Adding oversized sweatpants to this look only further solidifies this nosey take on a classic look — a trench coat with sweatpants? Why not? He can’t be caught without a cool shoe, even if it might compete with his jacket, that’s where the moccasin with claws comes to play. He needs a ludicrously capacious bag to keep the mysterious aura going; you don’t know what he has in that bag, but you sure know that it is full of secrets.”

Sophie Gontard | The Trench-Coat

Trashy Clothing | Inspection Lounge Oversized Pants

Charles Jeffrey Loverboy | Moccasin Moggies With Claws

Chanel | Chanel Suede Quilted Nubuck Shoulder Bag

Karen Wazen | Bella Gold

Montale | Arabians Tonka

“I am no perfume expert, but my brother, Rashed, who's a celebrity makeup artist, beauty influencer and the best smelling person you’ll ever meet, says this man would definitely smell like Arabians Tonka by Montale.”

Look Three | ‘Cow Print Overdose’

“Animal print is very timeless. These beautiful pants match perfectly with this Luar bag. It’s one of my favourite bags because you can easily style it from day to night, and even though it looks tiny, it fits a lot! Trompe l’oeil is a fun way to add dimension to any look, and the colours in this Goomheo trompe l’oeil top match perfectly with the cow print. Now that the look is heavy on prints, I would introduce some metallic pieces to balance it — the Jude Benhalim ear caps would be the perfect match with the metal tip on the boots and the sculptural metallic sunglasses by Amr Saad.”

Goomheo | AW23 Marble Necklace Top

Achilles Ion Gabriel | Lovebums Leather Pants Cow

Luar | Pony-Hair Cow-Print Tote Bag

Dr Martens | 1460 Leather Jungle Zip Boots

Amr Saad | 511 Frames

Jude Benhalim | Cliff Earcap

Look Four | ‘A Man That Loves His Structured Pieces’

“Classic, with a twist, this man loves his structured pieces but also enjoys experimenting with patterns and textures. The striped bib shirt perfectly combines colours and stripes, and I would offset it with tailored black shorts to enhance the dressy vibe of the distressed slingback derby tabis — the ideal mix of classic, fun, and experimental. The Indira bolo tie adds wit, complementing the linear print on the shirt, while the flannel jacket with bridal lace is a chef’s kiss juxtaposition of masculine and delicate elements.”

Le Reve Nazam | Bridal Lace Flannel

Maison Margiela | Tabi Bianchetto Derby Sandal

Indira Jewellery | Black Bolo Tie

Indira Jewellery | Ring Stack

Falke | Knee-High No.13

Look Five | ‘He’s Busy, But He Won’t Get Caught Lacking’

“He’s a busy man, yet he won’t be caught lacking on the streets. He knows how to match his colours and prints. This green, which I love to call D’Accori green, is such a timeless colour. In this look, it perfectly complements the burgundy of the city bag, which literally fits everything. Balenciaga’s city bag is the definition of a timeless bag for me…

…The green threads in the jeans complement the top, while the sunglasses complement the bag. Charms on bags are a beautiful way to personalise them. When the colours are balanced, a touch of print in the shoes can go a long way; that’s why these snake penny loafers perfectly complete the outfit.”
