Monochrome Monday: The ‘Brat’ Green Edition
From British pop to American politics? Only brat green could do that.

Even if you’re not a fan of pop or haven’t listened to British singer Charli XCX’s latest album, you’ve at least seen or heard about ‘brat’ green.
Born from the imagination of Charli XCX, digital media artist Brent David Freaney and creative director Imogene Strauss, this noxious shade has bypassed its humble beginnings as album artwork to become the unofficial colour of summer 2024. It’s also currently trending on social media, with over 2.6 million Instagram posts and 21.7 million Tiktoks with the hashtag.
Unlike the sunny optimism of butter yellow or the mass appeal of hot pink, it’s a jarring, unnatural hue—more akin to radioactive glow (the result after being mixed with around 500 different shades of green). From the regional designers to global brands, we’re diving deep into the world of brat green.
