Mona Ayoub’s Dior Collection Sells for EUR 6.19 Million in Paris
Ayoub famously never wore her dresses more than once and Dior, in particular, became her long-term devotion.
Lebanese collector Mona Ayoub made headlines after releasing 95 Dior haute couture pieces from her private collection at auction, totaling a staggering €6.19 million. The sale marked one of the most significant couture moments of the decade.
While the collection spanned the eras of Gianfranco Ferré and Raf Simons, it was John Galliano’s work that commanded the room. Ayoub has long described Galliano as both a friend and a great artist - one she believed in when his work was widely misunderstood.
That belief paid off. His Spring/Summer 2000 Clochards collection emerged as the standout, with a painted silk evening gown selling for EUR 510,000 and a black taffeta gown reaching EUR 420,000.
