Maram's Cycle 11 Collection Shines in Jana Diab's Music Videos
The Egyptian designer’s ‘This is Not a Dream’ collection came to life in Diab’s music videos for ‘Escape Plan’ and ‘So Stupid’.
Shimmering and dreamlike, Egyptian designer Maram Aboul Enein’s Cycle 11 Collection ‘This is Not a Dream’ for her eponymous label blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, capturing the emotional oscillation between euphoria and despair through bold contrasts and ethereal designs that evoke a sense of otherworldly beauty.
A vision that fell in line perfectly with Egyptian artist Jana Diab, daughter of Egyptian pop star Amr Diab, who embodied the collection's essence in her music videos for ‘Escape Plan’ and ‘So Stupid’. Styled by Lebanese-American stylist Alissar Wynn, Diab wore the sparkling silver-blue ‘Interstellar’ top in ‘Escape Plan,’ reflecting a lunar, introspective energy. For ‘So Stupid,’ she donned the vibrant orange ‘Heatwave’ skirt, capturing a solar, empowering vibe against the desert backdrop.
“Both songs convey a rawness of emotions, the highs and the lows. The place in between melancholy and bliss is an otherworldly dreamscape and I feel this was the creative meeting point of our two visions.” Egyptian Designer Maram Aboul Enein shares with SceneStyled. “Both video’s oscillate between the bustling city life and the stillness of nature- a dichotomy we can all resonate with while living in Egypt.” Aboul Enein adds.
According to Aboul Enein, the collaboration was largely virtual, with stylist Alissar Wynn sending behind-the-scenes footage of the looks she put together. As Maram shares, “There’s no better feeling than seeing pieces from the collection come to life with a new spirit. Jana Diab’s identity and talent really shone through and wasn’t overpowered by the styling or pieces which for me, is the true power of fashion.”
