Egyptian designer Dina Shaker unveils a limited-edition Ramadan capsule collection that embodies heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary style. “This capsule is a natural continuation of the brand’s iconic deconstructed silhouettes, refined with elevated couture craftsmanship and intricate details,” Shaker tells Scene Styled.

Inspired by heritage cocoon cover-ups—garments once reserved for Egypt’s royal family during King Farouk’s reign—Shaker reinterprets their aristocratic elegance for today. “In this capsule, I wanted to honor the essence of this holy month—the depth of emotions it carries—through glamour,” she shares.

The kimono silhouettes, crafted from brocade, feature solid motifs set against sheer backdrops, creating an ethereal contrast that adds depth without overwhelming the design. “Each kimono is cut separately and requires an entire day to make,” Shaker reveals. The pieces follow a one-piece flat pattern, embracing a zero-waste approach, with 420 minutes of meticulous sewing dedicated to perfecting each garment.

Shaker’s vision for Ramadan dressing balances ease and sophistication. The fluid yet structured silhouettes allow for graceful movement while maintaining form. The timeless quality of brocade makes these pieces just as relevant today as they would have been decades ago. Their regal drape and sharp tailoring evoke Egypt’s golden age of fashion, when queens and princesses dictated trends that rivaled the grandeur of European royal courts.

"This Ramadan, I want to remind people to embrace authenticity—in the moments we share, the presence we cherish, and the style that reflects who we truly are,” Shaker says. The capsule champions personal style over social expectation, encouraging wearers to dress for themselves rather than validation—a sentiment that aligns with the mood of the month.
