Van Cleef & Arpels Partners With Emirati Calligrapher Fatima Alketbi
Unveiling a series of calligraphy artworks, Van Cleef & Arpels and Fatima Alketbi’s collaboration celebrates Ramadan.
French luxury jewellery house, Van Cleef & Arpels, is partnering up with Emirati Fatima Alketbi, a graphic designer and calligrapher, to create a collection of calligraphy artworks in homage to the holy month of Ramadan.
“Van Cleef & Arpels is honoured to embark on this artistic journey with Fatima Alketbi, whose passion for Arabic calligraphy and dedication to preserving cultural heritage align seamlessly with the Maison’s commitment to craftsmanship and artistic expression,” Van Cleef & Arpels comments on the collaboration.
Each stroke of Alketbi’s artwork is infused with inspiration drawn from her profound connection to her Emirati heritage, the breathtaking landscapes of the United Arab Emirates, and the rich poetic traditions that have been woven into her family's conversations throughout generations.
Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Zayed University, Dubai, Alketbi’s style of calligraphy acts as a creative bridge between her Emirati heritage and the contemporary world. In this collaboration, Alketbi uses palm fronds as her medium to craft Arabic calligraphy. With a passion for experimentation, Alketbi combines elements of high-tech and low-tech, employing diverse materials such as kohl to create typography.
With the recently opened Dubai Opera Boutique along with 14 locations in the Middle East, this collaboration highlights the Perlée couleurs ring in lapis lazuli and diamonds, along with the Perlée couleurs bracelet in yellow gold with lapis lazuli and diamonds.
