New Label '6901' Joined Forces With Rebel Cairo On Summer Capsule
The focus is on detail, process, and pieces designed to feel confident, cool, and colorful.

Rebel Cairo’s latest collaboration is with 6901, a new label by award winning retail Guru, Amir Fayo. The partnership builds on a history of working together. Dara Hassanein, founder of Rebel Cairo, says the two teams had already collaborated on different projects, so when Maison69 introduced 6901 and suggested creating something together, it felt like a natural next step. “We’ve been long-time collaborators,” Hassanein explains. “They reached out when they were launching and wanted us to share ideas. We took it from there.”For Hassanein, what stood out was the decision to produce limited pieces. “This approach allowed more time to focus on each design rather than pushing for volume. It also meant the pieces could be handmade from start to finish without compromise.” Hassanein tells SceneStyled.
Merging the two brands’ sensibilities required careful work. Rebel Cairo’s audience has its own expectations, and 6901 carries its own DNA. Hassanein says the aim was to respect both. The most important part of this process was sampling. “We tested yarns, thread patterns, sequins, fits. We tried different options until we reached something we believed in,” she says. Sampling became the backbone of the project, a way to make sure every detail worked once translated into fabric.
Certain moments stood out during development. Hassanein recalls the satisfaction of sourcing yarn colors that felt exactly right, then finding sequins that matched perfectly. These small steps built the character of the final pieces. “When the samples began to look like finished garments, these are the moments that confirmed the project was moving in the right direction.” Working with Maison69 also made sense because of the creative space it offered. “The brief felt open, with room to experiment and create products that our customers would connect with,” Hassanein says. Producing limited pieces reinforced this mindset; each design could take the time it needed. The collaboration valued process as much as outcome.
Asked what she hopes people feel when they wear the pieces, Hassanein answers in three words: “Confident, cool, colourful.”
