Monochrome Monday: The 2024 Color of the Year Edition

Hint: It’s peach ;)

Ziyad El-Helbawy

Subtly sensual, Peach evokes deep feelings of comfort and togetherness. Throughout history, cultures have ascribed a myriad of meanings to shades of peach—in ancient China, peach represented longevity and good fortune. Artists frequently used it as a backdrop in paintings, depicting its positive cultural symbolism. When oils became popular in European artwork, so did peach.

Today, Peach Fuzz emerges as the defining shade of 2024, proudly proclaimed by Pantone as Color of the Year. Its soft, cocooning warmth perfectly captures our need for nurturing, empathy and compassion for others, now more than ever. This Monochrome Monday, which very pleasantly coincides with the first of January, we’re showcasing the color of the year on its inaugural day with selections from MENA designers.

Maison Alaïa

The Winter Spring 2023 Collection

Glistening in peach, Maison Alaïa’s ensemble from the Winter/Spring 23 collection proves that all that glitters - or simply, sensually reflects - does not have to be gold.

Layla Atelier

The ‘Blooming Grace’ Collection

Akin to a peach-colored rose blossoming from the ground up, Layla Atelier’s peach-colored crepe dress combines Hollywood glamour with childhood fairytale reveries.

Tony Ward

The ‘Where is Aphrodite’ Collection

Where is Aphrodite? Well, we certainly don’t have to look too far. Shimmering with crystal appliques, Tony Ward’s pastel-peach caped gown cements the Lebanese-Italian sartorial mastermind as a once-in-a-generation talent.

Nafsika Skourti

The ‘Divine Kallos’ Collection

Like the Lebanese label themselves said, you have to watch this one move. Effortlessly flowing with the breeze, Nafsika Skourti’s peach skirt from the Divine Kallos collection is undoubtedly divine.

Pamela Smith

The Summer 23 Collection

Akin to a meticulously carved Greek statue, Beirut-based designer Pamela Smith’s Summer 23 collection saw the designer showcase 2024’s color of the year 25 weeks before it was announced. Clairvoyance?

Incanto Boutique

Pleated Silky Skirt

Giving ‘good girl chic’ Bahrain’s Incanto Boutique’s Pleated Silky Skirt is a wardrobe staple, and one quite overdue considering peach is about to be a fashion hit all around.

Zila Russi

The Hily Boots

Painting the town peach, (and no, we shall not retire this joke) Moroccan footwear label Zila Russi is confidently walking into 2024 with their signature Hily boots.

Harithand

The FW23 Collection

A relaxed silhouette clad with sequins and ruffled feathers, Harithand’s FW23 Kaftan is a ‘new conception of beauty.’

Sandra Gargour

The Holiday Collection

Subtle, understated, and yet calmingly gorgeous, Sandra Gargour’s latest line presents the perfect accessorized companion for a monochromatic peach look.

P.S. Aren’t you glad we made it through this list without popping at least one Timothee Chalamet joke? Oh…nevermind.
