14 Regional Fashion Labels to Look Out for in 2023

This year we’ve witnessed the fashion scene undergo its shapeshift era with regional designers from across the MENA region bending and moulding the narrative to a palpable state of Haute nuance. Now, with Gen-Z rejecting fashion conformity all over TikTok, and enabling themselves to experiment with all aesthetics to their core, we’ve decided to give you a rundown on regional brands elevating one's sense of individuality with their daring pieces... 

HADIA GHALEB

Egyptian designer and entrepreneur Hadia Ghaleb helped redefine modest swimwear with her Gauliter-inspired prints, which come in an array of colourful patterns.

HANAN SHARIFA

The Moroccan designer launched her new RTW sultry collection ‘Inertia’,  a clear fusion of goblin and nymphette core. 

JEUX DE MAINS

Beirut-born multi-disciplinarian Salim Cherfane took us on a shining, shimmering, splendid magic carpet ride with his ‘Faeries on mushrooms’ capsule. 

MENAGE

Egypt-born Dubai-based designer Modii released his collection ‘Metamorphosis’, capitalising on post-human aesthetics and digital fashion.

TRASHY CLOTHING

Satirical RTW Palestinian label ‘Trashy’ reigned supreme with two collections this year: ‘Souvenirs of Conquest’, displaying the intersectionality betweenleisure and militarism, and collaboration with GMBH titled ‘Free Palestine’.

DEATH BY DOLLS

Saudi London born fashion designer LA-Based Sara Al-Saud released a kitsch-inspired FW22 collection, that is all things fierce and hot. 

HINDAMME

Saudi-Based contemporary luxury RTW label Hindamme released their fifth bubblegum-base inspired collection under the name ‘Season V’.

AUTONOMIE

Egypt-born Dubai-based designer Maha Ahmed released a metaphysics-inspired collection ‘The Tower’, featuring deconstructed garments and scintillating tops.

ANDREA WAZEN

The renowned London-born Beirut-based designer Andrea Wazen released her new shoe collection ‘Luisaviaroma’, which gave us scream queens Chanel #1 realness. 

OKHTEIN

The Cairo-born sisters took us by a storm this year with RTW releases on their contemporary subsidiary BE-Indie, as well as their Paris Fashion Week collaboration with Balmain. 

NAFSIKA SKOURTI

Jordan ready-to-wear brand Nafisa Skourti released two glamorous collections this year that fuse retro aesthetics with deconstructed garments. 

RAZAN AL-AZZOUNI

Saudi-based fashion designer Razan Al-Azzouni released phenomenal collections that reflect the angelic realm in each iteration. 

AZZA FAHMY

Egypt-born Azza Fahmy collaborated with world renowned French luxury brand Balmain for Paris Fashion Week through their Eye of Horus Bustier, which was handmade at Azza Fahmy’s Cairo workshop.

ALFAZAIRY

Beirut-based atelier Alfaziry released their beautiful wedding gown collection ‘Parallel Universe’ where past meets present.
