For French-Moroccan designer Leila Roukni, founder and artistic director of luxury bags and accessories label Talel Paris, disruption is the starting point.

Part of Talel’s FW27 collection, the Long Hair bag sits at the center of Roukni’s ongoing exploration of craft pushed into unexpected territory. “FW27 is all about contrast,” she explains. “I wanted to push Arabic design into new territory, exploring texture, tradition, and expectation at the same time. This bag, in particular, turns a traditional Moroccan craft into a radical statement.”

The piece begins with an unconventional material: long, untreated goat hair – eerily similar to human hair. Instead ‘taming’ the material to make it more palatable, Roukni built the design around its irregularities. “I worked closely with Moroccan artisans who understand this material intimately,” she says. “I let the natural movement of the hair shape the design. For me, production isn’t about hiding imperfections – it’s about celebrating them.”

As one of the many designs that integrate hair, Roukni reflects that the audience's reaction has been immediate: “People are often surprised or even taken aback at first, which I actually love,” Roukni says. “That initial discomfort is part of the experience.”

Enter Emma Galwas. For the Paris-based art director, fashion is less about display than narrative. She describes her style “as all about vintage. For me it’s important to think about clothing as something that carries a story about someone and their culture.” Her wardrobe reflects that philosophy. Vintage pieces collected over time sit beside heirlooms borrowed from family members. “I like to mix trendy pieces with old vintage or heritage clothing,” she says. Logos rarely interest her, “good materials and textures are my luxury.”

That sensibility made the FW27 Long Hair Bag a natural starting point.

“For these three looks, I wanted to build silhouettes that truly reflect the way I dress and the pieces I naturally gravitate towards,” Galwas explains. Layering sits at the core of each outfit – mixing textures, volumes, and materials pulled from a wardrobe built over time. Many of the garments are vintage or second-hand finds, chosen for their character rather than perfection. “Its raw goat hair texture resonates with the authenticity of these clothes,” she says. “Pieces that are imperfect, lived-in, and meaningful.”
