Monochrome Monday: The Rose Gold Edition

From rings and gowns to iPhones and everything in between, Rose Gold has been causing quite the stir.

Ziyad El-Helbawy

Dearest readers, before we get into the topic, there’s a simple personal tidbit I’d like to share with you. Is it in any way, shape, or form, detrimental to this edition of Monochrome Monday? Perhaps not, but indulge me. As someone who falls between the awkward cusp of Gen Z’ers and millennials, I’ve had quite the experience of feeling like an in-betweener, but nuances of childhood aside, that fateful birth year eventually led to my discovery of a certain song: ‘Rose Gold’ by Pentatonix.

Now, the reason I mention this is not just because I hoped to stir some sense of nostalgia within other fellow ex-Pentatonic listeners, but also because the lyrics of ‘Rose Gold’ seem to perfectly encapsulate the fairytale-esque hue. Timeless, classic, and shimmering like stars on a lazy weekend night.

Now, back to business, it would come as quite a surprise to discover that Rose Gold is actually a rather recent phenomenon. Created by jeweller Peter Carl Fabergé for a very special Fabergé egg in 19th century Russia, the pink-hued metallic egg was presented to the Tsar, and so a colour beloved in fashion came to be. From rings and gowns to iPhones and everything in between, Rose Gold caused quite a stir in the 21st century, and this week, we’re looking at some of the regional designers who’ve shown an affinity for the colour.

Okhtein

Palmette Oval Minaudière

Perhaps one of Okhtein’s most-striking designs, the Palmette Oval Minaudière features the brand’s signature embellishments and designs in a classic rose gold hue.

Mimia Leblanc

The Butterfly Set

Float like a butterfly, and sting like a rose-hued butterfly too. Lebanese jeweller Mimia Leblanc’s rose gold butterfly set is as graceful and light as its namesake creature.

Geyanna Youness

The Enchanted Collection

Taking fairytale fantasies to reality, we will never tire of showcasing Geyanna Youness’ Enchanted Collection.

Georges Hobeika

The FW23 Collection

Not all that glitters is gold, sometimes it’s rose gold. Artfully embroidered and adorned with feathers, Georges Hobeika’s FW23 piece is a rose gold dream.

Ashi Studio

The FW23 Couture Collection

Evoking the mystique of an Ancient deity, Saudi label Ashi Studio’s rosé champagne silk charmeuse draped dress is the statement piece of all statement pieces.

Nafsika Skourti

The Waltz Dress

Silky smooth, Nafsika Skourti’s two-tone Waltz dress will have you dancing the night away.

Amina Muaddi

The FW23 Collection

Pointed to kill, we’d suggest being careful with these - can’t afford to put someone’s eye out. Slay, for sure, just not in the literal sense, please.

Salim Azzam

The FW23 Collection

Evoking feelings of a 1920s stroll in Beirut, Salim Azzam’s FW23 collection was all about theatrics, but this hand stitched hat is nothing if not authentically gorgeous.

Yassmin Saleh

The Tattoo Series

The perfect piece to be layered to your heart’s desire, Yassmin Saleh’s tattoo top is for those amongst us who hate commitment.
