Kuwaiti Influencer Ascia is Opening Her First Curly Hair Studio

Unplug your straighteners now!

We’d like to start off by assuring you that you’re not alone if you’ve spent a large part of your life beating your natural curls into submission. Throughout our millennial and Gen Z childhoods, straight hair was good hair, and curly hair was a problem to be solved. This was good news for flat-iron sales, and bad news for hair cuticles everywhere.

Thankfully, ideas of beauty are slowly changing (tell that to my split ends). The curly hair care market has exploded in recent years in response to a rise in appreciation for natural hair textures, and Ascia’s launch of ‘The Curl Lab’ salon is a symptom of this.

Kuwaiti beauty influencer Ascia, who boasts a following of 2.5 million, is seeking to spread the curly love with the launch of the salon after embarking on her own journey embracing her natural curls. She’s already the face of New Balance MENA and the co-owner of a successful K-Beauty business, Seoul Kool - so although this isn’t her first business venture, it will be her inaugural dip in the waters of this rapidly flourishing market.

Opening in Kuwait on August 1st, The Curl Lab will be a salon and studio dedicated to naturally wavy, curly, and coily hair. The salon’s Instagram account is giving little away, but Ascia herself posted a glimpse into the studio’s chic monochrome interior, and The Curl Lab’s official Instagram posted a callout for input from fans to make sure the salon delivers what Kuwait’s curly girls are after.
