Repurposed and re-imagined, the embroidered material serves to actualise the brand’s focus on anomalous designs.

As the slow fashion movement gains momentum, labels spearheading the change ultimately stand testament to the power of care and consistency. Designing pieces that last for generations and closet staples that grow to serve as family heirlooms, Deana Shaaban is the Egypt-born designer sewing timelessness into the fabric of her brand.

“This Capsule Collection is super close to my heart. It is a collection that is 100% designed from Egyptian fabrics,” Deana Shaaban, Founder and CEO of her self-named fashion brand Deana Shaaban, tells SceneStyled. “We sourced our fabrics from different Egyptian textile factories that specialise in using the finest threads and materials to create long-lasting fabrics. Using a mix of silks and velvet, which was used as far back as in 2000 BC and were worn only by Egyptian royalty, we have created everyday wearable statement coats and jackets.”

Crafting unconventional pieces, the capsule collection boasts sharply cut coats made from materials traditionally used for upholstery. Repurposed and re-imagined, the embroidered material serves to actualise the brand’s focus on anomalous designs. As DS’s philosophy encompasses an overarching desire to highlight the innately multifarious nature of humans, the collection’s layered approach perfectly mimics that sentiment.

Designed to be styled in a multitude of different ways, the collection catapult wearers outside menial puffer coat traditions into a world where mum jeans and superfluous overcoats.
