Egyptian Designer Moamen Awad Makes a Cinematic Debut in Times Square
The Step Pyramid of Djoser has made its way to Manhattan.
Egyptian designer Moamen Awad just made quite the entrance in New York landmark Times Square.
A stunning campaign image from the esteemed tailor and menswear innovator’s upcoming collection is currently lighting up one of the famed Manhattan location’s giant billboards.
“We wanted to create a global advertising campaign that showcased the civilisation of our country to the world,” Awad tells SceneStyled.“Our civilisation is ancient and beautiful, and capturing images in a magnificent historical place like Saqqara embodies this.”
This attention-grabbing display at the iconic US tourist destination anticipates the release of his newest collection. On the billboard, a model sporting a sleek black suit adorned with ancient Egyptian motifs stands in front of one of Egypt’s most recognisable landmarks, the Step Pyramid of Djoser.
“I feel extremely proud to be the first Egyptian suit designer to announce his new collection in the most powerful advertising location in the world,” Awad continues, “it demonstrates that Egyptian designers are capable of competing globally.”
Established in 2010, Awad’s custom suits appear on the backs of celebrities like Mahmoud Yassin Jr., Ibrahim Fayek, Hazem Ehab, Ramy Radwan, among many more. He remains a go-to for sartorial excellence as well as fashion innovation, pushing men's formalwear forward in Egypt and beyond (and now in New York, seemingly).
